Thredbo Resort has announced a significant new partnership with Snow Australia to bring sanctioned FIS park events back to the nation. This collaboration marks a pivotal moment for the development of freestyle skiing and snowboarding in Australia, as the Thredbo Triple Crown Slopestyle and Big Air events will now be integrated into the esteemed Australian New Zealand Cup (ANC) Series. This joint initiative effectively reintroduces park FIS events to Australia, the first since 2022, providing a substantial boost to local freestyle athletes.

Under this agreement, the 2025 Thredbo Triple Crown Series, proudly presented by Boost Mobile, will feature FIS-sanctioned competitions. Competitors across the Youth, Junior, and Open categories will have the opportunity to earn FIS points, contributing to their standings in both the Triple Crown and ANC events. This structure offers athletes the chance to compete for a share of the $60,000 prize pool, while simultaneously working towards earning essential FIS points, which are critical for qualifying for international contests such as the Europa Cup and potentially the Olympic Games.

Johnny Lipzker, Snow Australia’s Sport Development Coordinator, highlighted the impact, stating, “This is a game-changing opportunity for our athletes.”
Meanwhile, Thredbo Event Manager Sam Noller expressed excitement about the alliance, noting, “This partnership with Snow Australia is a testament to our long-standing commitment to freestyle progression.”
The winner of the ANC series, determined by performances across two Slopestyle events and one Big Air event, will secure a personal World Cup quota spot for the 2025/26 season — a crucial advantage for Australian athletes aiming for the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.
By hosting the Slopestyle event on August 1 and Big Air on August 25, Thredbo solidifies its commitment to fostering athlete development, enhancing the prestige of the Triple Crown as a premier competition in the Southern Hemisphere.
