The Snowy Mountains’ major resorts have reported snowfalls of between 10-35cm overnight, with more falling today, June 25, delighting skiers and snowboarders with early-season powder at Thredbo and Perisher Ski Resorts. Strong winds currently see lifts closed at Selwyn and Charlotte Pass Resorts, while some chairs are in operation at Thredbo and Perisher today. A spokesperson for Thredbo Resort expressed the enthusiasm, noting that skiers and snowboarders are enjoying “what many are calling the best turns of the season so far. It’s a rare treat to see such impressive snow coverage this early in June.”
Strong winds see some chairs closed, but Thredbo Resort still has a number of lifts operating today, and is anticipating an excellent weekend ahead, with more terrain expected to open.

Perisher Ski Resort has prepared 22 groomed trails across its four areas. The strong winds are impacting lift operations, with 22 lifts currently open and 23 closed.

35cm of fresh snow greeted visitors at Perisher. According to Perisher Ski Resort, the snowfall was welcomed as “white gold” following a wintery low front that transformed rain into snow overnight.

Selwyn Snow Resort, meanwhile, received approximately 10cm of snow, with snowfall continuing. However, strong winds have placed the New Chum and Township Chairs on hold for the day. Efforts are underway to open the toboggan park to offer some sliding today.
Charlotte Pass Snow Resort is also experiencing substantial early-season snowfalls with around 20cm reported. The resort is grappling with strong winds, resulting in fresh windblown snow stashes, however, all lifts are being temporarily held. The resort is optimistic about opening some today if the winds drop.
As snow continues to fall across the Snowy Mountains, these favourable conditions set the stage for a bustling weekend of winter sports and activities, however travellers are advised to exercise caution on the roads.
