Snow Falls Just in Time for 2025 Winter Season

The Snowy Mountains have welcomed another snowfall, sparking excitement and anticipation ahead of the 2025 winter season. With just over a week until the season normally starts, 15cm of snow has been recorded at Perisher from Tuesday, May 27 to Wednesday, May 28. The front valley is already beginning to transform with the assistance of snow guns, while dustings are seen throughout the park.

Perisher Ski Resort has eagerly shared yesterday afternoon, “If you have been waiting for a sign to hit the slopes this season… it’s still snowing,” highlighting the readiness to welcome snow enthusiasts. This sentiment echoes across social media, with businesses and resorts expressing joy over the onset of winter.

The village of Thredbo has also been coated in fresh snow, prompting the resort to announce their new 4-Day Flexi Pass. This pass, available until June 1, allows ski and snowboard aficionados to enjoy any four days of the 2025 season with flexibility and a savings of up to 30 percent off standard lift passes.

Thredbo’s General Manager, Stuart Diver, captures the excitement: “The excitement is palpable with this morning’s snowfall ahead of Opening Day.”

In Jindabyne, Chalet Mirkom offers an atmospheric update: “The mountain is looking absolutely magical. The Snowy Mountains are now blanketed in white—cabins, chalets, cafés, and slopes all glowing under fresh snow.”

The Man From Snowy River Hotel in Perisher is preparing for an early opening to coincide with the State of Origin match tonight, noting it feels “a little sugar coated up here.”

The conditions are promising a week out from the start of the season as the Snowy Mountains eagerly anticipates a strong winter. The buzz has begun, and opening events are just around the corner, with the region ready to embrace the freeze.
