High Heelers Suffer Narrow Defeat in Qualifying Final

In a match that reflected a close finish in the regular season standings, the Bombala Rugby League Football Club’s High Heelers narrowly missed victory in their Qualifying Final match in the 2025 Group 16 League Tag competition. Held at the Pambula Sporting Complex on Sunday, August 24, the first placed High Heelers faced a nail-biting loss to the second placed Bega Chicks with a final score of 16-17.

The match was a tight contest that saw the balance hang in crucial moments and the outcome decided in the final minutes. Despite their unbeaten run of 13 consecutive wins throughout the regular season, the High Heelers found themselves a moment short and one point shy of continuing their winning streak into the finals.

Now, their journey towards Grand Final glory becomes more challenging as they prepare to confront the Eden Tigerettes in the Preliminary Final. Eden secured their spot with a 12-8 victory over the Tathra She Eagles. The match is set for Sunday, August 31, at the Cooma Showground. A win would grant the High Heelers another chance against the Bega Chicks in the Grand Final.

A spokesperson for the Bombala Rugby League Football Club commented, “Unfortunately our ladies went down in a thrilling finish in their qualifying final against a tough Bega Chicks outfit.”

“A few crucial calls didn’t go their way in the last few minutes, but they will train hard this week before facing Eden in Cooma next Sunday.”
