Cooma Basketball Association U16 Girls Battle Hard in Southern Junior League Finals

The Cooma Basketball Association (CBA) U16 girls team demonstrated resilience and tenacity as they competed in the round 3 finals of the Southern Junior League competition over the weekend in the Illawarra. On the back of a spectacular performance in Albury during Round 2, where they clinched four out of five victories, the Cooma girls took plenty of confidence into the finals series.

Expressing optimism and readiness before heading into the finals in Wollongong. A spokesperson for the Cooma Basketball Association shared, “Give it your best shot, we are proud of the effort and hard work everyone has put in to make it this far.”

The weekend commenced promisingly as the Cooma U16 girls secured a decisive victory against Shoalhaven, emerging victorious by 23 points in the semi-finals on Saturday May 31. The win paved the way for an intense preliminary final showdown against Illawarra who were playing at home.

The match against Illawarra turned out to be a thrilling yet challenging encounter. Despite the girls’ spirited performance and unwavering determination, they narrowly missed out on the win against the Illawarra team and the awaiting grand final. “What a game they played. These girls fought with everything they had and very nearly got there last night, but Illawarra had the legs in the end and took out the preliminary final by 14 points,” commented a spokesperson for the Cooma Basketball Association.
